Brington & Molesworth Parish Council worked with Cambridgeshire Highways on a feasibility study to reduce the speed of traffic through Brington. We urgently needed to reduce the speed of traffic passing through the village, particularly between Hill Place and Brington School.
Proposed 2022 – Installed August 2023
The works:
Extend the 30 mph limit at the northern end of the village from Manor Farm for approximately 250m to take the 30 mph limit past the Hill Place entrance.
1. Create two 400m 40 mph buffer zones:
a. At the northern entrance into Brington now sees Glebe Farm situated inside the a 40 mph buffer zone.
b. At the southern entrance into Brington before the existing 30MPH signage.
2. New 30MPH posts, road markings, terminal/repeater signs including new village ‘gateway’ posts north of Hill Place and south of Brington School.

The current MVAS speed detection equipment will be redeployed to remind drivers that Brington has a 30MPH speed limit. The MVAS units continues to provide vital feedback to the actual speed of vehicles passing through the village.
The Parish Council welcomes the speed reduction scheme and looks forward to ongoing parishioner comments / feedback on how to reduce vehicle speed further.
