Investigating and Regulating Flooding responsibilities

Surface Water Flooding

The Parish Council takes the issue of surface water flooding of homes very seriously. Over the last ten years the villages have seen extensive surface water flooding particularly on the highways, public footpaths, Brington school and a number of homes.

Despite the Parish being situated in what is know as a Flood Zone 1 (Unlikely to be affected by river or tidal flooding), the Parish is highly susceptible to surface water draining off the land above the villages. The Parish Council has been working hard to explain and gain recognition from both Huntingdon District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.

The Parish Council has set up a Brington and Molesworth Flood Action Group. Photographs and videos of recent surface water flooding are available below – latest February 2026.

Residents are invited to join, information available from the Clerk.
