Message from our MP, Mr. Ben Obese-Jecty MP – Monday 24th March 2025.
“It was fantastic to welcome Parish Council leaders to Westminster for the third of my parish council roundtables.
These have been a huge success in building relationships with each of our parish councils, both in order to better understand the challenges they face and where I can be of assistance in my capacity as the Member of Parliament, as well as establishing a conduit between our first layer of local government and Westminster.
This week we welcomed Ellington, Grafham, Great Staughton, Brington and Molesworth, Bythorn and Keyston, Catworth, Covington, Kimbolton and Stonely, Leighton Bromswold, Old Weston and Tilbrook.
A wide array of topics were covered in addition to concerns from all of those attending regarding the A14, both the junctions at grade and rat-running through the villages to avoid congestion. I will be raising this issue with the County Council, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and National Highways to seek a resolution and longer term solution”.
Councillor Gary Rule attended on behalf of Brington and Molesworth. He raised a number of parish issues:
- A14 J16 Roadworks
- RAF Molesworth extra traffic due to construction works.
- B660 – State of the road and poor road signs.
- 18T weight limit not being enforced.
- HGVs using Brington High Street.
- 30 MPH Signs in Molesworth to be extended by Cambridgeshire County Council, cost and time scale.
- Speeding in both villages.
- AutoSpeedWatch – adoption by both Cambridgeshire County Council and Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
- Full Fibre Broadband.
- District Council Planning & Enforcement.
- Surface water flooding in both villages.
- Local Government changes and cost to be borne by local councils.
